I don't think there is a person in the world who has not experienced waking up in the morning to find a hideous pimple right in the middle of their face. Depending on what you have to do that day can determine how bad your initial reaction will be. It seems that these things happen right before we have an important meeting or are going out on a first date. What do we do then? Of course, it would be better if this pimple decided to pop up when we were sitting home with absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to go, but unfortunately we have no say in the matter.
What do we do next? After the initial wave of panic sets in, we gather our wits and try to asses the situation and see what damage control we can do. How bad is it really? Can I cover it with make up? Is it going to get bigger as the day goes on? Should I pop it? Somehow whenever we have any kind of blemish on our face we suddenly develop bionic eyes that can zoom in to an atomic level and see every minor imperfection. Things that an electron microscope would miss we tend to notice once we have our pimple alert goggles on. This certainly doesn't help the situation and usually leads to more panic!
It is far worse than we could have imagined. Upon inspection we have found all sorts of defects in our skin. What started out as a pimple has ballooned into a pimple plus several smaller pimples, blackheads, moles, a few random hairs and some wrinkles. You decide you have to act, after all how can you leave the house with your face looking like this?
You begin squeezing all the blackheads, popping any minor pimples and anything else that looks like it doesn't belong. You grab your tweezers and begin plucking out all these hairs that are growing everywhere. At this point you have completely forgotten about the pimple that started it all. You have popped plucked and squeezed every last inch of your face except this one last spot. You go in for the kill and pop that sucker.
The adrenaline is now working its way out of your system and you start to calm down a bit. You look in the mirror and staring back at you is an oozing pock marked bleeding mess! The black heads have left tiny swollen holes all over your face. You can still see where your eyebrows used to be because the skin is all red. Finally, all the pimples you popped, including that big one, are now four times the size and dripping with a pink mixture of blood and oil.
Only one last thing you can do; cancel your date, call out of work, and cancel whatever else you had planned. You lock the door, pull down all the shades, and spend the next three days looking in the mirror at how bad your skin is and what you can do to make it better.
